Sheena: Benjamin Franklin once said that an "Investment in knowledge plays the best interest ." Education is promoted by our government as a right, and not a privilege. But we believe it's not that true at all.

I am your clever talker, Sheena. With me...

Steph: ...Your pretty chatter, Steph, and together we are the sister-friends.

Sheena: Aloha to all of you at home today watching HashTag Avenue, where we will once again discuss another common thing with common sense.

Our trending topic for you today is all about education but only one slice of it.

Steph: What? One slice? Unsa ni pizza pie?

Sheena: What I mean is that the word 'education' is a vague topic. We will be only talking about a small topic from that big topic.

Steph: Oh, okay. So what will we be talking about? Is it about school crushes? Or how about the value of having longer university parties? Can we talk about that?

Sheena: Come on, Steph, those are not educational topics. Sorry guys ha, bagong tulog pa kasi sya eh. Anyway, we will be talking about Private Schools and Public Schools. Do you guys ever wonder which type of school is better? Check this out.

Segment #1

Sheena: Private Schools and Public Schools ay parehong makikita dito sa CARAGA at sa buong Pilipinas. But we all know they are different in many ways. Di ba Steph?

Steph: Yes. Ang pinaka-common sa dalawa ay ang, that's right, public schools. Enrolling in public schools is much cheaper because they are supported by taxes.

Sheena: Public schools can also get their budget from willing foundations and businesses, that's called creative funding.

Steph: Wow, that's very creative of them.

Sheena: Yes, ensuring that every child in the country can have a chance in education. But like all things in the world, it's not totally free, unlike everyone says. Parents of non-college students have to pay 300-500 pesos miscellaneous fees for their kids , a clog for the very poor.

Steph: Today some concerned and rich parents think that the services in public schools are not enough. That's why Private schools offer an alternative.

Sheena: We all know that Private Schools get their money, where else, from the students' parents.

They also get their funds from donations by the alumni and businesses as well.

Steph: And now, let the games begin. We went to the streets to ask you which is better and what'd you prefer, private schools or public schools. Let see what will win in our popularity-opinion-contest-palooza!

Sheena: Buhat-buhat ra nimu na karun pa?

Steph: Oo, cute ba ?(laughs)

RTD of the HOSTS

Discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of Public Schools and Private Schools.

Sheena: So, what comes out on top? Public Schools and Private Schools? Steph, what do you think?

Steph: For me, it really doesn't matter what type is best since both have ups and downs. It's really up to the parents and students which works best for them.

Sheena: True, true. I also want to add, Steph, that education should be more on equity, and not on how much a student pays.

Steph: That's a very clever thought Sheena.

Sheena: That's why they call me a clever talker, Steph.

CLOSING:

Sheena: We'll that's it , we're done for the day.
